Food insecurity is a growing social problem in Canada and throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes and Haliburton regions. As the cost of living and food rises, jobs and wages remain scarce, and more individuals struggle to feed themselves and their families.
Our vision at the United Way is to work with partners to improve access to food on an individual and community level through our on-site Community Garden and Starter Kit Program, and advance changes to our food system through our work with the Kawartha Lakes Food Coalition and Poverty Reduction Strategy Committee.
